ABOUT MEMy name is Ashley Prosser. I grew up in Tallahassee, Fl. I am a proud Godby High School graduate and Florida State alumni. I have been teaching at Fort Braden for 11 years and have enjoyed every minute. I have taught 5th and 6th grade, and am currently teaching 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 Honors. I really like math! Outside of school I have a husband and 2 beautiful daughters, age 3 and 5. My daughter, Emma (5) is in kindergarten at Fort Braden. I enjoy long walks on the beach and sunset boat rides:)

Course Description:
In Grade 8, instructional time should focus on three critical areas:
(1) Formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations, including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linear equation, and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations.
(2) Grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships.
(3) Analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence, and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
Textbooks
Florida Go Math, Pre-Algebra (classwork and assessments). In addition to the consumable workbook pages, all students will have online access to their textbooks. Students can access their online textbooks through Classlinks.
Binder:
Each student is required to maintain a 4” binder with dividers. A binder check will be at various times during each nine weeks. The students will be given a rubric for grading the Math section of their binder.
Attendance:
It is vital for your child to be in class each day in order to be successful. Please follow the Attendance Policy located at Fort Braden’s home page for specific information using the web site above. The policy for make-up work is located on the web site and is as follows:
• Prior notice of extended absences may require more than 24-hour notice or assignment upon return.
• Students have two days to make up work for a one-day absence.
• Student have up to five days to make up work for absences that are beyond one day.
• Student must follow individual teacher requirements.
• Teacher will provide necessary materials or alternative assignments for work missed.

Students are required to write homework assignments in their agenda book daily.
Homework is checked based on completeness not correctness. It is important that students attempt every homework problem. Homework is assigned every night Monday- Thursday.
